New NJ Transit Bus Schedules go into effect on June 20 for the following bus routes serving Morris County: 70, 73, 79, 194, 871, 874. Please visit NJ Transit’s website to see the new schedules.

Eagle Rock Avenue Bi-County Bridge Project

On May 18, 2015, the Eagle Rock Avenue Bi-County Bridge will close after the morning rush hour, and re-open on or about September 18, 2015. Visit the project webpage for more information and detour plans.

NJ Transit Hearing on Proposed Fare Increase and Service Cuts

NJ Transit will hold a series of public hearings on their proposed fare increase and service cuts in Morris County and statewide. A public hearing will be held at Morristown Town Hall on May 21 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Details of the proposal are available on NJ Transit’s website.

Development of the new Circulation Element of the Morris County Master Plan, called “Morris County In Motion,” has started. There are several ways to help create the plan.

  • Attend a Public Workshop in March or April 2015 to help us identify transportation issues affecting Morris County communities.

Sussex Turnpike Intersection Improvement Project

Morris County will provide safety and capacity improvements on Sussex Turnpike (CR 617) in Randolph Township. Construction will begin in Fall 2015 and is anticipated to be completed by September 14, 2016. Visit the project webpage for more information.

Bicycling & Walking to Work Trends – New Census Bureau Report

The US Census Bureau released a new report highlighting the demographic and geographic trends of walking and bicycling to work. The report, “Modes Less Traveled – Bicycling and Walking to Work in the United States: 2008-2012” is available on the census website.

Pulaski Skyway Rehabilitation Project

The northbound travel lanes on the Route 1&9 Pulaski Skyway will be closed for approximately 24 months while the NJDOT rehabilitates the bridge deck. For more information on alternate routes, and transit and ridesharing options visit‎.

NJ 124 Transit Study

The NJ 124 Corridor Transit Access Improvement Study will analyze and recommend station access improvements at Chatham, Madison, and Convent Stations in the NJ 124 corridor. Read more.
